According to paulgough.com, Paul Gough is a physical therapist who spent four seasons as head physiotherapist for a UK professional soccer team. At 26 he opened the Paul Gough Physio Rooms, which grew from a spare room in his home into a multi-location, cash-based practice with more than $1m in revenue. He has written books on PT marketing, sales, hiring and leadership, hosts a long-running podcast, and offers courses including the New Patient Accelerator, the Planet Paul Marketing Academy and Business Growth School. His site also offers PhysioFunnels, a marketing service.

What is the New Patient Accelerator?

The New Patient Accelerator is a marketing program for PT owners who want to bring in patients directly, without relying on doctor referrals. The program page lists:

• 12 video seminars on marketing foundations, appointment conversion, pricing, referral systems, Google and Facebook ads, direct mail, social media and email, website conversion, community events and a 90-day marketing plan
• Support: an online community with Q&A access to Paul, live group coaching calls, and one-on-one coaching with one of his marketing coaches
• Access: modules unlock over time and the membership site stays open for life
• Included extras: one key team member joins free, two VIP guest tickets to a two-day mastermind event, the "7 Quick Fixes" training, and three months of Planet Paul Marketing Academy for non-members (continuing monthly afterwards unless cancelled)

The guarantee: the page offers a refund "if by module three you don't think that Accelerator will get you the 3 extra patients you'll need to cover your investment." Refunds carry a 5% processing fee.

What is the Best Year Mastermind?

The Best Year Mastermind is Gough's peer and coaching group for clinic owners who want to grow. Prospective members first attend a two-day, in-person meeting as a VIP guest, seated with current members. The page lists meetings in Orlando, FL and Liverpool, UK (at Anfield), and limits each meeting to 10 guest passes. The guest seat is $750 or two payments of $395. Guests who decide to join are offered the full program at $12,900, and the page says there is "no obligation" to join after the weekend. Entry is by application.

Who is it a good fit for?

• The New Patient Accelerator fits owners whose main goal is more new patients, especially those who want to rely less on physician referrals and prefer a structured curriculum with a coach. The page is written for cash, hybrid, out-of-network and in-network clinics alike, and says start-ups under 12 months old are a good fit.
• The Best Year Mastermind fits established owners who want a room of peers, in-person meetings and accountability on marketing, hiring and finances.
• Gough's programs cover many channels. Owners who already know they want depth in a single channel may want to ask how much of the curriculum covers it.

What to ask before joining

1. How long does live and one-on-one coaching run for my enrolment?

3. After the free months, what does Planet Paul cost, and how do I keep or cancel it?
