What Is the Meta Ad Library? Definition for Clinic Owners
The Meta Ad Library is Meta's free, public, searchable database of ads running on Facebook and Instagram, showing each active ad, the page behind it and when it started running.
The Meta Ad Library is a free public search of the ads running across Facebook and Instagram. When Meta expanded it in 2019, it said the library would include "all active ads any Page is running" (Meta). For a clinic owner, that means you can type "chiropractor Tampa" and see what every competing clinic is running right now: the image or video, the headline, the offer and how long it has been live.
What can you see in the Meta Ad Library?
In the Meta Ad Library you can see each active ad's image or video, its copy, the Facebook page running it and the date it started running. You cannot see a clinic's budget, cost per lead or how many patients the ad produced, so everything you learn there is about what clinics run, not how it performs. The start date is the most useful field for an owner. Clinics rarely keep paying for an ad that does not bring in patients, so an ad that has run for a year or more is a strong hint about what works in that market.
How do clinic owners use the Meta Ad Library?
Clinic owners use the Meta Ad Library to see what competitors offer, what they charge for a first visit, and which angles nobody in town is using. That is how we built the Local Clinic Ad Report: on 2026-10-01 we searched the library for PT and chiropractic terms across 18 metros and found 312 clinics running 1,046 live ads. 122 of them put a price on the first visit, with a median of $49. Eleven of the 18 metros had no clinic running a women's health or pelvic angle. Look up your city in the local ad report.
Why does an ad's run time matter?
An ad's run time matters because it is the closest public signal of what is working, since nobody outside the clinic can see its results. In our data, the longest-running live clinic ad was a West Palm Beach chiropractic ad that had been live since 2022-12-29, about 45 months. A Chapel Hill PT ad had run 42 months, and a Cedar Park chiropractic "$49 special" 40 months. Study them for the offer and the angle, then write your own version; do not copy them. We break down the patterns in the longest-running clinic ads and the state of clinic advertising 2026.
Questions owners ask
Is the Meta Ad Library free?
Yes. It is a public tool from Meta, and searching it costs nothing. You do not need to be an advertiser to use it.
Can I see how much a competitor spends in the Meta Ad Library?
Do not count on it. When we pulled 1,046 live clinic ads for our local ad report, what we could reliably see for each was the creative, the copy, the page and the start date, not the budget or the results.
How do I find clinics near me in the Ad Library?
Search terms like 'chiropractor' or 'physical therapy' plus your city, then check each page's location. Our free local ad report does this for 18 metros already.
